Nigerian singer, Rema has revealed how he made his first million at 17 but gave it to his mom because she needed it more than he does as a teenager.
The singer was a guest on GrubHub in New York where he talked about his career as an afrobeat singer, his reaction on meeting American singer, Selena Gomez, His biggest achievement in Life and the age he made his first million.
The dumebi crooner said he made his first million at 17 but he gave it to his mom because he couldn’t spend the money on himself knowing that his mom needed it the most.
Rema recalled meeting Selena Gomez for the first time when they were to record a remix for his song ‘Calm down’, He said he was confused on what to wear because he didn’t believe she was really coming to meet him, He said she was such a sweetheart when he finally met her and he could not stop hugging her.
Speaking on his biggest achievement so far in life, Rema said it is being able to pull his family out of poverty, to be able to provide for his loved ones and putting his guys on any career of their choice through his money and connection.
The singer further paid homage to afrobeat artists from the last two decades for their immense contribution to the afrobeat industry. He gave a shout out to Fela, Tubaba, PSquare, WizKid, Dbanj, Burna Boy, Davido, Rumtown, Wande Coal, and thanked them for opening the doors for young artists like himself.
