Former Manchester United and France defender, Patrice Evra has picked Cristiano Ronaldo over Lionel Messi in the latest debate.
The Manchester United legend said on his YouTube page that Ronaldo’s success is a result of hard work, while Messi has a God given talent.
“The reason I consistently mention Ronaldo is not because he’s my brother, but because I’m greatly impressed by his work ethic.
In my view, Messi was born with exceptional talent, whereas Cristiano had to put in a lot of effort to achieve success. Despite possessing natural talent, Cristiano had to work tirelessly to hone his skills.
If Messi had the same level of dedication and work ethic as Ronaldo, he could have won many more Ballon d’Ors. However, my admiration for individuals who strive hard to achieve their goals is the reason why I choose Ronaldo over Messi“.
Evra and Ronaldo spent 4 years together at United between 2005 and 2009 winning three League titles, The UEFA Champions League, two League cups, one Club World Cup and three Community Shield titles together before Ronaldo left for Real Madrid in 2009.
