In a recent interview on You Tube, Rio Ferdinand aimed a ‘Dig’ at Arsenal saying that Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes would already have a statue of himself at the Emirates if he was playing for the Gunners.
With a goal in the 39th minute against Aston Villa on Sunday in the Premier League, the Portuguese player made the difference in the game.
Ferdinand has proposed that Fernandes should also be given permanent captaincy at Old Trafford for the upcoming season.
The former England defender (Ferdinand) also used the opportunity to make fun of rivals Arsenal, claiming that the 28-year-old would already have received a Statue from the Gunners if he had been a member of their team by now.
“Have you seen Bruno’s figures?”
Wow!!. Ferdinand said.
“The man, What he is doing is amazing. With the figures he has achieved, if he was playing For Arsenal, he most likely have a statue there right now”.Â
The United icon made this statement on his YouTube channel FIVE.
Ferdinand also echoed his thoughts on Fernandes becoming Manchester United’s new Captain.
“Will Bruno serve as captain the coming season? I firmly believe that he will. He’s been the most significant player we have had since he joined [Man Utd].
“When [Harry] Maguire is not playing, he takes the armband. I believe it is logical for him to serve as captain next season”.
