Former Super Eagles striker, Odion Ighalo helped Al-Hilal win the Saudi King’s Cup by defeating Al Wehda in a penalty shootout.
Al-Hilal emerged victorious by 7-6 after the match ended in a 1-1 draw in regulation time. Ighalo, who scored two goals in four appearances in the Cup competition this season, was introduced into the game before the start of the second half and missed his own spot kick during the shootout.
Al-Hilal is the second most successful team in the competition’s history with ten titles, behind Al-Ahli with thirteen titles. The last time Al-Hilal won the Saudi King’s Cup was in 2020.
In his debut season with the Blue Waves, the 33-year-old Ighalo clinched the championship title of the Saudi Arabia Professional Football League.
