Lionel Messi has expressed regret for his unapproved visit to Saudi Arabia, which led to his suspension by Paris Saint-Germain.
The Argentine football star released a video on social media, where he apologised to his teammates and the club, clarifying that he believed he had the day off and was unable to cancel his sponsored trip.
Messi’s apology statement Reads:
“I wanted to make this video after everything that’s going on. First of all, I apologize again to my teammates at the club. I honestly thought that we were going to have the day off after the game as we had done before. I had organized this trip to Saudi Arabia, which I had previously cancelled and I couldn’t go. Once again, I apologize for what I did. So here I am, waiting to see what the club wants to do, nothing more. A hug.”
As a result, Messi is expected to miss the games against Troyes and Ajaccio.
PSG’s decision to suspend Messi has led to speculations that he might leave the team after the season ends.
With only three games left to play after his ban, the World Cup winner is said to have made up his mind to leave PSG. Barcelona and Inter Miami are two of the possible destinations for Messi.
