The Glazer family and the Raine group, the bank overseeing the sale process of Manchester United have established a final deadline for interested parties to submit their final bids to buy the club on Friday 28th of April 2023 by 10pm.
The family is anticipated to select their preferred bidder by next week, according to The Guardian.
The two front-runners are British petrochemicals company INEOS, managed by Sir Jim Ratcliffe, and Qatari financier Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al-Thani after Finnish entrepreneur Thomas Zilliacus withdrew from the race after criticizing how the process had been handled.
The Glazers might still retain control of the team, though, and sell a small interest to a U.S. hedge fund in the event that offers fall short of their £6 billion estimate.
Following the Glazers’ first declaration that they were looking into “strategic alternatives to enhance the club’s growth” in November, United supporters have grown more impatient with the protracted process.
Additionally, Organizations like The 1958 are planning a massive protest before Sunday’s game at Old Trafford versus Aston Villa, which will include skipping the first 18 minutes of the contest—one for each year the Glazers have owned the team.
