Moises Caicedo, who attempted to force a transfer out of Brighton during the January transfer window, has now signed a new long-term contract with the club. Both Arsenal and Chelsea showed interest in the midfielder during the transfer window but failed to secure his signature.
However, in a surprising turn of events, Brighton has confirmed that Caicedo has committed to the club until 2027, with an option for an additional year.
The head coach of Brighton, Roberto De Zerbi, expressed his delight with the news, stating that it will make the club stronger as they strive to achieve their goals. Caicedo has been one of the most promising prospects in the Premier League since joining Brighton in January 2021, which led to a bidding war between Arsenal and Chelsea.
Arsenal had a £70m bid rejected, and instead opted for Jorginho, while Chelsea focused on acquiring Enzo Fernandez in a British record transfer.
Despite trying to force a transfer through Instagram, Caicedo has now committed to Brighton for the long term.
