Veteran Nollywood actor, Pete Edochie has reacted to the unending controversies following his handshake to the Ooni of Ife at a recent event.
Recall that the 76 year old was a guest at the birthday ceremony of the wife of Nigerian business mogul, Tein Jack-Rich, Elizabeth Jack-Rich.
The actor who made his way into the event venue in the company of fellow actor, Kanayo O Kanayo gave the Ooni of Ife a handshake in the Igbo traditional way.
The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi could be seen accepting Pete Edochie’s handshake with a big smile on his face in the video making rounds online from the event.
However, some Netizens faulted Pete Edochie’s way of greeting the Ooni of Ife saying it was very disrespectful of him to have shook hands with the king instead of bowing down to him because he is the biggest king in Yoruba land.
In defense of Pete Edochie who was getting criticized by Netiizens, Business man, Sommy Keshi questioned why a high chief like Pete should bow to anyone.
