Wolves winger, Daniel Podence has denied spitting at Brennan Johnson, a Nottingham Forest player, and stated that he would “never do such a thing”.
Podence was charged by the Football Association after Johnson accused him of spitting during their 1-1 draw on Saturday. However, the referee did not take any action after a video assistant referee check at the City Ground.
Podence, who scored the late equaliser for Wolves, claimed that he had been “accused of something I haven’t done” in an Instagram post.
He also affirmed that he would never spit on a colleague or anyone else. The Portuguese player has until 12 April to respond to the FA’s charge, which usually carries a six-match suspension.
Wolves manager Julen Lopetegui confirmed that Podence did not spit at anyone, and the club is dealing with the situation. Podence has scored six goals in the Premier League this season.
