Denzel Dumfries, a right-back for Inter Milan who recently attracted interest from teams like Chelsea and Manchester United, is being eyed by Real Madrid.
The 26-year-old has frequently been mentioned in connection with transfers to the Premier League in previous years, but it appears that a move to La Liga may now be more plausible.
According to the Spanish daily Fichajes, Real Madrid is aware that Inter intends to raise money this summer and that the Italian team is seeking about £35 million for the Dutch full-back.
Dumfries was only signed by Inter in 2021, and he has a deal that runs until 2025, so despite their willingness to sell, they will demand a high price for him.
Dumfries had long been rumored to be a Premier League signing, but as interest in England declines, interest in the Spanish capital grows.
Although Malo Gusto has returned to Lyon on loan for the remainder of the season, Chelsea is now less likely to sign another right-back in the summer. The two teams were heavily linked during the January transfer window.
However, it would be foolish to rule anything out given Chelsea’s current transfer strategy.
Old Trafford has also been mentioned as a potential location for Dumfries, although their need for a new right-back also appears to have diminished as a result of Aaron Wan-performances. Bissaka’s
Diogo Dalot has been Erik ten Hag’s first choice in the spot, and Wan-Bissaka appeared headed for the departure, but the Portuguese international’s injury has allowed the Englishman to come up and flourish, giving United two solid alternatives in the area.
Ten Hag might still want to work on both this summer, but it’s not clear if Dumfries would be the best place for him to do it.
