Nigerian Singer, Divine Ikubor better known as Rema has entered the official Mena Chart taking the No 1 spot on the list with his 2022 hit single ‘Calm Down’
Calm down has officially become the first hit single to reach number 1 on MENA ,which simply stands for the middle east and North Africa comprising of 13 countries with a population of over 300 million people.
In an article published on the official website of the Guinness world records, Rema’s music career was given a broad insight highlighting all the significant feat with the hit song ‘Calm Down’ it described Rema as a pioneer of Afro rave.
The song which is the second lead single from his first album “Raves and Roses” has continuously charted on billboard hot 100 since it remix with American singer, Selena Gomez got released in August, 2022.
On Spotify the original version has amassed Over 300,000 streams while the viral single with Selena Gomez has over 700,000 streams making a total of over 1 billion streams.
The song has grown to become the highest charting song by an African artist surpassing Wizkid and Tems’s Essence.
Recently it reached the top 5 on billboard hot 100 songs taking the no 4 and 5 spots in the first 2 weeks.
