During a recent Twitch stream, Sergio Aguero shared his belief that Lionel Messi is a superior goalscorer to Cristiano Ronaldo. Aguero dismissed Ronaldo’s goal tally as being “pure luck,” and instead praised Messi’s ability to score from more challenging angles.
He even suggested that other players, such as Raul and Benzema, have better goals than Ronaldo. Aguero’s comments are noteworthy given his close friendship with Messi, who serves as the godfather of Aguero’s son.
In fact, Aguero reportedly joined Barcelona in 2021 to play alongside Messi, but Messi’s subsequent move to PSG prevented this from happening.
During the stream, Aguero said: “Look where he scores the goal from. Come on. All free-kick goals and pure luck. Messi’s are all at the angle, stupid. But what does [Ronaldo] do? Goalkeeper’s fault. I think Raul has better goals, [Karim] Benzema I think he has better ones”.
Aguero is currently retired from Football having been diagnosed with cardiac arrhythmia, he retired in 2021 after moving to Barcelona.
