Nigerian singer and songwriter, Ugochi Lydia Onuoha, also known as Guchi has expressed her frustration with her record label, PG Records, on social media.
The reason behind her disappointment was the postponement of her music release date to the quarter of 2024.
In a series of tweets shared on her Twitter page, the singer lamented the situation, emphasizing the hard work that artists put into creating music for their audience. However, she felt that record labels often hinder their efforts with unnecessary delays.
One of the screenshots she shared depicted a WhatsApp conversation with her label boss, where she voiced her dissatisfaction with the distant release date that had been scheduled for her song. She firmly stated that if they didn’t allow her to release the song at the time she desired, she would take matters into her own hands and distribute it on streaming platforms like SoundCloud and Audiomack.
Guchi wrote: ” Music shouldn’t be this complicated!
You record a song from your heart, and you are told a thousand reasons why you shouldn’t put out the song!! Why are there too many processes in something that’s a free gift from God??
“Labels should remember, passion led the artist here and shouldn’t let the business side of things override that passion. If the song I like isn’t released, then I will go ahead a leak it! “

Is this not part of the reasons Davido once renegotiated his Sony deal?”

Please leak the song, we are solidly behind you.”
