Chelsea defender, Thiago Silva has signed a one year contract extension at the club. The Brazilian’s contract was supposed to expire in the summer of 2023 but the club has decided to trigger a one year contract extension for him.
Silva who arrived at Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2020 from Paris Saint Germain had this to say ..
‘I am honestly so happy to continue my career with the Blues,’ Thiago said shortly after signing.
‘When I signed my first contract here, it was to just do one year. Now it is already the fourth! I could not have imagined that, but really it is a very special moment for me to sign and stay at Chelsea”
Chelsea chairman and CEO Todd Boehly also had this to say …
“He’s a world-class talent, as he’s proven over many years for club and country, and his experience, quality and leadership skills are vital to our vision going forward.
‘We’re thrilled he has extended his contract with us and we look forward to more success with him ahead!’
Silva has made over a 100 appearances for Chelsea scoring 8 goals and also winning the 2021 UEFA champions league along with the FIFA club world cup and the UEFA super cup.
