Napoli secured a convincing victory over 10-man Eintracht Frankfurt in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie, with Victor Osimhen scoring his 20th goal of the season. The game started with Frankfurt’s Khvicha Kvaratskhelia missing a penalty before Osimhen capitalized on Hirving Lozano’s excellent pass to score in the first half.
Frankfurt’s chances of a comeback were further reduced when Randal Kolo Muani was sent off for a bad challenge in the second half. Giovanni di Lorenzo then scored a second for Napoli, extending their lead.
The Italian side looks set to advance to the quarter-finals after this win, with the second leg to be played in Italy on March 15th.
Napoli who are 15 points clear at the top of Serie A, demonstrated their attacking prowess and confidence throughout the game.
Osimhen was particularly dangerous, earning a penalty in the first half and scoring from close range soon after Kvaratskhelia’s missed penalty. Despite Frankfurt’s efforts to equalize, Kolo Muani’s red card ultimately sealed their fate.
Di Lorenzo’s goal from Kvaratskhelia’s backheel put the icing on the cake for Napoli.
