Afrobeat superstar, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has sparked a conversation on social media with his recent revelation about his contribution to the success and growth of new afrobeat singers in the industry today.
During a recent interview with Bruto, Davido firmly stated that both he and Wizkid played a significant role in paving the way for the emergence of the new generation of Afrobeat singers.
The DMW boss specifically mentioned Burna Boy, Rema, Fireboy, Mayorkun, Asake, and other talented artists who have benefited from their influence, referring to them as the promising newcomers in the industry.

Davido also expressed his confidence in these artists, believing that they are excelling in their respective fields and will shape the future of Afrobeat in a positive way.
However, Davido’s statement received backlash from netizens, particularly fans of Burna Boy, who were upset by the inclusion of Burna Boy in the list of artists influenced by Davido and Wizkid. Burna Boy’s fans, often referred to as “outsiders,” voiced their displeasure and found it disrespectful towards Burna Boy.
