Several individuals have been apprehended by the Czech police following an incident where Fiorentina supporters assaulted West Ham fans prior to the Europa Conference League final in Prague.
During the altercation at a bar located on Rytirska Street, three individuals sustained injuries, and a police officer was also subjected to an attack, as confirmed by law enforcement officials.
Czech police took to Twitter to announce that they had “restricted the personal freedom of 16 people” in connection with the incident.
The final is scheduled to commence at 20:00 BST (8:00 PM Nigerian Time).
An anonymous West Ham supporter recounted that a “sizeable group” of Italian fans launched an assault on the Tek-ila Tek-ila bar situated in the city center on Wednesday.
He further elaborated, saying, “Around eight Italians passed by, wielding bands and chains. Five minutes later, a large group arrived down the street and attacked us.”
The fan expressed concern for a friend who had sustained significant injuries, including a “severe laceration” on his head.
A 17-year-old eyewitness stated that the West Ham fans had “not done anything wrong,” while Fiorentina supporters were observed “throwing flares and firecrackers.”
