Ange Postecoglou led Celtic to their second consecutive Scottish Premiership title as they overcame a resilient 10-man Hearts at Tynecastle, with Kyogo Furuhashi’s 30th goal of the season securing a 2-0 victory.
Despite being outplayed for most of the first half, Celtic were given a lifeline when Alex Cochrane’s yellow card for a foul on Daizen Maeda was reviewed by the Video Assistant Referee and upgraded to a red card just before halftime.
Kyogo capitalized on the numerical advantage and scored his 50th goal for Celtic, sending the away supporters into raptures. Substitute Oh Hyeon-gyu then added a second to seal the win and secure Celtic’s 11th title in 12 years, their 53rd overall.
Celtic now have a chance to complete a fifth treble in seven seasons by winning the Scottish Cup final against second-tier Inverness Caledonian Thistle on June 3.
While Hearts were left frustrated by Cochrane’s controversial dismissal, Celtic celebrated their title triumph, which had been a foregone conclusion for weeks, if not months, given their dominance in the league
