Spain secured a victory over Norway in the Euro 2024 qualifying campaign, with former Newcastle and Stoke striker Joselu scoring twice in two minutes on his international debut.
The game was played at Malaga’s La Rosaleda Stadium, where Dani Olmo opened the scoring by turning home Alejandro Balde’s cut-back.
Joselu, who had previously struggled during his time at Newcastle, came to form and sealed the victory for Spain in the later stages of the game.
His two goals were scored within two minutes of each other. Luis de la Fuente, Spain’s new boss, led the team to victory, and they now top Group A, alongside Scotland, who beat Cyprus 3-0.
Spain’s next game will be against Scotland, who secured a comfortable win against Cyprus thanks to goals from Scott McTominay and John McGinn.
Elsewhere, Wales managed to secure a 1-1 draw against Croatia thanks to Nathan Broadhead’s stunning goal on his debut.
It was their only shot on target during the game, and it was enough to deny the hosts a victory. Croatia had taken the lead through Andrej Kramaric’s well-placed shot in the 28th minute.
Although Wales struggled in the first half, they improved after the break and had a chance to equalize through Dan James, whose volley missed the target. Croatia continued to push for a second goal and hit the bar through Ivan Perisic. However,
it was Broadhead who had the final say, scoring from close range in injury time to secure a valuable point for Robert Page’s team.
