After Graham Potter was fired by Chelsea earlier in April, the club has held negotiations with Ruben Amorim in an effort to name their new manager.
Chelsea is making moves to recruit a long-term replacement for Graham Potter, who was fired at the beginning of April after a dreadful stretch of play in 2023, with Frank Lampard serving as the interim manager until the end of the campaign.
According to The Guardian, the Blues have since initiated discussions with Sporting CP manager Ruben Amorim, who is one of at least four candidates on their shortlist.
Chelsea was immediately connected to players like Julian Nagelsmann and Luis Enrique after Potter was fired. The former was recently fired unexpectedly from Bayern Munich.
Enrique has been unemployed since leaving the Spanish national team during the 2022 World Cup, but according to the source, Chelsea will take its time before making a final choice.
Co owner Behdad Eghbali is rumored to be a fan of Nagelsmann, whose agents have been contacted.
The club has also had preliminary talks with Enrique. Along with the top three, Chelsea is also keeping an eye on Mauricio Pochettino, Oliver Glasner, and Xabi Alonso, the former manager of Tottenham.
Lampard and will be looking to win his first game since his return this weekend when they host Brighton at Stamford Bridge.
