After less than seven months in charge, Graham Potter has been sacked as manager of Chelsea following their 2-0 home defeat by Aston Villa on Saturday.
The Englishman had recorded 11 losses in 31 games since taking over from Thomas Tuchel at Stamford Bridge on 8 September 2022. Despite spending more than £550m on new players, Chelsea are currently in the bottom half of the Premier League and 12 points behind the top four.
Potter has agreed to work with the club to ensure a smooth transition, while Bruno Saltor will take over as interim head coach.
Chelsea’s co-controlling owners, Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali, have expressed their respect for Potter as a coach and person and are disappointed with the outcome.
Chelsea will host Liverpool in the Premier League on Tuesday before their Champions League quarter-final against Real Madrid on 12 April.
