Rocco Commisso, owner of Fiorentina, has made fun of Chelsea for the amount of money spent on new signings that did not produce results on the field.
Commisso attacked the blues for the amount of money they have spent on transfers this season alone and the fact that the expected results have not been displayed on the pitch.
With eight new signings, Chelsea were the Premier League team with the busiest summer transfer activity back in 2022.
The likes of Wesley Fofana, Raheem Sterling, Kalidou Koulibaly, Marc Cucurella, and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang had been added in the summer.
Enzo Fernandez, who won the 2022 World Cup, Malo Gusto, Joao Felix, Benoit Badiashile, David Datro Fofana, Mykhailo Mudryk, Andrey Santos, and Noni Madueke were all signed to the team during the winter transfer window.
Chelsea are currently 11th in the league standings after making significant investments in player acquisition over the course of the two transfer windows.
According to Violanews, Commisso assured students at Florence’s Economy University on Tuesday morning that “Fiorentina will never have financial problems.
“In England, Chelsea spent a lot of money on transfers only to finish 12th on the table. That can never happen here in Fiorentina”.
“The Premier League has accomplished fantastic things, but we are doing well in Europe this season; maybe, we’ll win [against Basel] and advance. At least, I didn’t spend anything“.
One week after suffering a 2-1 defeat in Florence, Fiorentina will take on Basel in the second leg of the Conference League semifinal on Thursday.
