Liverpool secured their sixth consecutive victory in the Premier League by defeating Brentford, bringing them within one point of Manchester United in the race for a top-four finish.
During the match, Liverpool’s Egypt forward, Mohamed Salah, made history by becoming the first player in the club’s history to score in nine consecutive home appearances in all competitions.
His goal was also his 100th for the club at Anfield. Salah’s 13th-minute goal was not his most spectacular, as he bundled the ball over the line from close range after a cushioned header by Virgil van Dijk across the six-yard box.
Nonetheless his 30th goal of the season set Jurgen Klopp’s team on the path to another crucial win, keeping Liverpool’s outside chances of qualifying for the Champions League next season alive.
With 62 points, Liverpool is now one point behind fourth-placed Manchester United, who still have two games in hand, including a fixture against struggling West Ham United on Sunday.
