Liverpool’s manager, Jurgen Klopp, will miss the upcoming match against Aston Villa at Anfield.
The German Coach received a two-match ban for comments made about referee Paul Tierney following Liverpool’s 4-3 victory over Tottenham in April.
In addition to the ban, Klopp has been fined £75,000 for admitting to improper conduct and expressing regret for his comments.
The second game of the ban has been suspended until the end of the 2023-24 season, meaning Klopp will not miss the final game of this campaign against Southampton.
Klopp had suggested that Tierney had a bias against Liverpool after the Spurs game and was shown a yellow card for celebrating Liverpool’s late winner in front of the fourth official.
The Professional Game Match Officials Limited, the refereeing governing body, denied any wrongdoing on Tierney’s part, and Liverpool responded to the charges in a letter three days after the match.
