Arsenal‘s versatile player Ainsley Maitland-Niles has confirmed that his time at the club has come to an end, as he prepares to move on this summer.
The 25-year-old, who is a product of the Gunners’ academy system, has spent the current season on loan at Southampton, following similar spells at West Brom and Roma.
Despite making 132 appearances for Arsenal and earning five senior caps for England, Maitland-Niles feels it is time to seek new challenges outside of north London.
He told The Athletic, “It’s been a great journey but it has come to an end now [at Arsenal]. It’s time for a fresh start and to find a new home.”
Maitland-Niles’ contract with Arsenal is set to expire at the end of the season, leaving him free to explore his options.
However, for now, his focus remains on helping Southampton stay up and win games. He said, “Right now, I’m just focused on football and the task at hand.”
