Achraf Hakimi, the defender for Paris Saint-Germain, has been charged and interrogated by prosecutors regarding accusations of rape made against him. According to AFP, the Hauts-de-Seine Territorial Security questioned the 24-year-old Moroccan international on Thursday and has since filed charges against him.
The allegations stem from a sexual assault incident that a 24-year-old woman reported on February 26, claiming it occurred on February 25 at Hakimi’s residence in the Boulogne area of Paris.
Hakimi’s attorney, Fanny Colin, stated in a release to Le Parisien on Tuesday that her client is innocent, and the allegations are untrue. She stated that “He is calm and at the disposal of justice.”
Despite the accusations, Hakimi attended the FIFA Best Awards ceremony in Paris on Monday and trained with the PSG team on Friday morning ahead of their upcoming Ligue 1 game against Nantes on Saturday.
