In a recent court, hearing Juventus and France midfielder Paul Pogba spoke about an alleged extortion plot involving his brother, Mathias, and how it has impacted his health and recent injury struggles.
Mathias was charged and detained for three months in connection to the alleged £11 million plot against Paul. Paul testified in a court in France and revealed to L’Equipe how the ordeal affected him on and off the pitch.
He stated, “I kept all of this to myself for a long time and then I revealed it. This case has had a big impact on my body, especially on my injuries. I’ve spoken about it with the French national team manager.”
Paul shared that he was threatened at gunpoint and paid €100,000 to a masked gang. However, the threats continued, causing him to fear for the safety of his friends and family.
Due to his injuries, Paul was unable to participate in the World Cup 2022 and has struggled since his return to Juventus on a free transfer from Manchester United, making only four substitute appearances.
Manager Massimiliano Allegri is reportedly considering terminating his contract at the end of the season, citing Pogba’s lack of readiness to play a full match.
