A Premier League footballer arrested on suspicion of child sex offenses will face no further action,” confirmed a spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police.
The player, whose identity has not been disclosed, was taken into custody in 2021 and questioned by authorities before being released on bail.
However, a thorough investigation determined that the available evidence did not meet the criteria for prosecution under the Code for Crown Prosecutors. As a result, the player will not face any charges.
The footballer in question has since departed the Premier League club he was affiliated with during his arrest.
Greater Manchester Police stated that they remain dedicated to thoroughly investigating all allegations of this nature to ensure the best possible outcomes for all parties involved.
In addition, they will continue collaborating with other agencies to support those in need.
