Roberto Firmino’s late goal helped Liverpool salvage a point against Arsenal at Anfield, cutting the Gunners’ lead at the top of the Premier League to six points in a thrilling encounter.
Arsenal took a comfortable two-goal lead within the first 30 minutes, with Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus finding the back of the net.
However, Liverpool fought back after Mohamed Salah scored just before the break, following a flashpoint between Granit Xhaka and Trent Alexander-Arnold.
The first half ended on a bizarre note, with referee’s assistant Constantine Hatzidakis appearing to elbow Liverpool defender Andy Robertson as the teams left the field.
In the second half, Salah missed a penalty, but Firmino eventually equalised for Liverpool with a header from Alexander-Arnold’s cross in the dying minutes of the match. Despite the draw, Arsenal maintained their position at the top of the league, while Liverpool remained in the middle of the table.
Elsewhere, In a remarkable second-half turnaround, Crystal Palace provided a significant boost to their chances of staying in the Premier League and left Leeds United stunned with plenty of work to do to avoid relegation.
After Patrick Bamford’s goal gave Leeds an early lead, it seemed unlikely that the Eagles could come back. However, Marc Guehi scored an equaliser on the stroke of half-time, and in the second half, Palace scored four goals, with Jordan Ayew netting two of them.
Ayew’s header was followed by Eberechi Eze’s quick poke, and Odsonne Edouard’s quick counter-attack goal. Ayew’s second goal of the game sealed the deal for Palace, causing many Leeds fans to leave early.
With this stunning win, Palace moved up to 12th in the Premier League, six points clear of the relegation zone. Meanwhile, Leeds is just two points above the drop, currently sitting at 16th in the league.
