Paris St-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi firmly refutes any involvement in the Manchester United takeover, asserting that his focus lies solely with PSG,” Al-Khelaifi stated in a recent interview.
Addressing speculations regarding his connection with the Glazer family and Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani’s bid, Al-Khelaifi clarified:
“I have nothing to do with Manchester United. Paris St-Germain is my club, it resides in my heart.” With a hint of amusement, he added, “It’s amusing how people assume otherwise. Being Qatari, naturally, people seek my opinion, and I willingly share my experiences. This extends to any individual seeking guidance, not exclusively Manchester United.”
While speaking in Istanbul after an important meeting of the European Clubs’ Association (ECA) that he chairs, Al-Khelaifi emphasized:
“My involvement remains within the realm of PSG. I am here to contribute to the growth and success of my beloved club.”
Despite persistent rumors, Sheikh Jassim has consistently maintained that his offer is a personal endeavor. Recently, he submitted his fifth bid for Manchester United, which remains under consideration.
In contrast, Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his Ineos Group are willing to secure a majority stake, allowing the Glazer family to retain a representative role within the club.
Al-Khelaifi, who also holds positions as the chairman of beIN Sport, a Doha-based state-owned broadcaster, and the boss of Qatari Sports Investments, has been approached by various entities seeking advice on potential investments in English clubs.
Although he refrained from disclosing specifics, he disclosed:
“I provided my opinion to a wealthy group considering investments in two English clubs—one smaller and the other larger. I remain open to sharing my insights with those who seek it.”
Expressing his support for new investments in European competitions, Al-Khelaifi commented, “I welcome investment within the boundaries of regulations. It doesn’t solely pertain to Qatar; it extends to anyone interested in contributing positively to the game.”
