Real Madrid have announced the signing of Joselu, a former striker for Newcastle and Stoke, on a loan deal.
The departure of Karim Benzema, who won the Ballon d’Or, to Al-Ittihad in Saudi Arabia has left Real Madrid lacking in reliable central striking options.
To address this issue, Real Madrid has turned to Joselu, who has returned to the Spanish capital on a deal that includes the option for a permanent transfer in 2024.
Joselu is no stranger to Real Madrid, having joined their academy at the age of 20 and playing two seasons at Castilla.
The 33 year old made his debut with the Real Madrid first team in 2011.
Joselu is also an international player with the Spanish team, with whom he recently won the 2023 Nations League.
Joselu previously played for the Real Madrid B team, scoring 40 goals in 73 games before he was allowed to leave for Hoffeinham in 2012.
