Despite his impressive goal record of 14 goals in 16 games for Al-Nassr, Cristiano Ronaldo was not included in the Saudi Pro League Team of the Season.
Instead, Odion Ighalo of Al-Hilal secured the center-forward position with his 19 goals in 27 games.
Despite joining Al-Nassr in January and making a significant impact, the 38-year-old Portuguese superstar was not chosen for the best XI in the Saudi top-flight league.
Ronaldo joined Al-Nassr after his contract with Manchester United was terminated.
He managed to score 14 goals in just 16 games during his time with the Riyadh club. However, despite his contributions, Al-Nassr was unable to clinch the league title and finished second behind Al-Ittihad.
On the other hand, Ighalo, a former Manchester United player, finished the season as the league’s third-top scorer. However, he has since left Al-Hilal after an 18-month spell with the club.
Al-Hilal had aspirations of bringing Lionel Messi to the Middle East, but they will now have to explore alternative options for Ighalo’s replacement as Messi opted to move to the MLS.
