Goalkeeper Sergio Rico of Paris St-Germain is reportedly in intensive care in a “serious” state following a horseback riding accident.
According to local media, Rico, 29, was riding in the Huelva province of Spain’s El Rocio region when he collided with a bolting horse.
The Spaniard was transported to a hospital in Seville by helicopter.
Rico was on the bench during Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Strasbourg.
“Sergio is in good hands and is battling to pull through,” the player’s family said in a statement on Sunday.
“He is receiving the best care, we must tread with caution, especially for the next 48 hours.”
The former Sevilla goalie Joined the French champions in 2020 after spending the previous campaign on loan at Fulham of the Premier League.
He joined PSG from Sevilla in September 2019, and since then, he has played in 29 matches.
