Juventus secured a hard-fought 2-0 victory against Atalanta, moving them up to second place in Serie A. Samuel Iling-Junior, a 19-year-old English forward, scored his first professional goal to give Juve the lead in the second half. Dusan Vlahovic then sealed the win in injury time.
Juve’s triumph took them to 66 points, putting them two points ahead of Lazio and three points in front of Inter Milan, who sit in fourth place.
With just four rounds left in the season, the race for Champions League spots is tight. Atalanta, on the other hand, are in sixth place, five points adrift of Inter.
Despite creating opportunities to take the lead in the first half, Atalanta failed to convert their chances, with Giorgio Scalvini coming closest with a header that hit the far post.
Iling-Junior’s goal saw him become just the third English player to score for Juve in Serie A, following in the footsteps of David Platt and William John Jordan.
As Atalanta attempted to mount a comeback, Vlahovic scored a second goal on the counter-attack, securing the victory for Juve with the last kick of the game.
Juve will now shift their focus to their Europa League semifinal first leg against Sevilla, which takes place at home on Thursday.
