In a dramatic finish at the Stadio Olimpico, AC Milan’s Alexis Saelemaekers scored a late equalizer in stoppage time to secure a 1-1 draw against Roma, just moments after Tammy Abraham thought he had secured the win for the hosts with a stunning low finish in the 94th minute.
Saelemaekers’ goal ensured that Milan would remain in the Champions League positions and move ahead of Roma on goal difference.
Both teams are currently three points ahead of Inter Milan, who could take fourth place if they win against Lazio in Sunday’s early kick-off.
However, an Inter victory would also give Napoli the opportunity to clinch their first Italian title in over 30 years, as Lazio currently trail the league leaders by 17 points with just seven games remaining.
To secure the Scudetto, Napoli would need to beat Salernitana on Sunday afternoon, adding to their previous title victories in 1987 and 1990, led by the legendary Diego Maradona.
