If Sheikh Jassim’s takeover proposal is successful, legendary players from Manchester United’s illustrious era under Sir Alex Ferguson will be granted major roles at the club.
The Qatari offer led by Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani, chairman of Qatar Islamic Bank (QIB), is still one of two direct takeover offers, along with the one made by Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s INEOS Group, after a third round of bidding was finished over two weeks ago.
According to ESPN, the Qatari consortium intends to hire several of United’s best players for key positions at the club in an effort to outperform their British counterparts.
Players from the Red Devils’ illustrious 1999 treble-winning team, including the homegrown stars from the “Class of 92” group, including Gary Neville and Paul Scholes, would be given positions at Old Trafford as a result of the Takeover.
It is also believed that players from more recent teams, such as the Champions League champions from 2008, are being considered.
According to ESPN, Sheikh Jassim’s representatives have already approached players from throughout Ferguson’s 27-year managerial career.
The American companies Elliott Management, Ares, Sixth Street, and Carlyle Group are thought to have made partial investment offers to the Glazer family in addition to the complete takeover bids from Sheikh Jassim and Ratcliffe.
The final decision of the existing owners, which has been closely scrutinized and is still having an impact on United’s summer transfer intentions, is still unknown as of now.
