Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has acknowledged the need for changes in the team in the summer transfer window, following a disappointing season so far.
After being defeated 5-2 by Real Madrid in their first leg of the last 16 Champions League tie and currently sitting eighth in the Premier League, Klopp stated that improvement is necessary.
He acknowledged that a number of Liverpool players, including James Milner, Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and Roberto Firmino, will be out of contract in the summer. The team’s poor form this season has also been impacted by injuries.
However, Klopp believes that Liverpool’s successful history and the leadership style of the club will allow them to make necessary changes in the transfer market, despite the need for precision and financial caution. Klopp’s comments came after Liverpool’s owner, John Henry, confirmed that the club is not for sale.
Speaking at today’s press conference, Klopp had this to say
” The season has been very difficult for us especially looking at what we were able to achieve last season. A couple of things needs to change if we are to get back to that level again, hopefully in the summer”
Liverpool travel to Crystal Palace this weekend in a bid to continue their push for a place in the top 4.
