Salim Fago and Jude Sunday netted goals in the second half, sealing the victory. Their final group stage encounter will take place on Saturday, May 27, against Brazil.
After a closely contested first half, the Flying Eagles broke the deadlock against Italy when Fago scored a header.
In the 95th minute, Sunday ensured the Nigerians’ victory by adding the second goal.
During the match, there was a tense moment in the 37th minute when VAR reviewed a potential handball incident, but the decision eventually favored the Nigerian team as it was waved off.
