Mikel Arteta, the manager of Arsenal, has provided an injury update on William Saliba and Takehiro Tomiyasu, who were both absent during the team’s victory over Crystal Palace.
Arsenal comfortably won another London derby, scoring four goals and extending their lead at the top of the Premier League table by eight points.
However, the team’s defense was not able to keep a clean sheet due to the injuries sustained by Saliba and Tomiyasu during the Europa League last-16 match against Sporting on Thursday.
When asked about the extent of their injuries, Arteta had this to say
“We are unsure of the severity of Tomiyasu’s injury as the doctor is still evaluating it. We received one assessment, and another assessment will be conducted on monday. It seems to be a significant injury. Tomiyasu is not the type to exaggerate, and we are concerned”.
“We hope for positive news on Saliba. We will need to wait until monday to gain a better understanding of the situation.”
Tomiyasu and Saliba have both withdrawn from international duties with Japan and France respectively due to their respective injuries.
