Championship side, Burnley are under investigation after fielding a depleted squad against Reading last week.
With a 2-1 victory over Middlesbrough earlier this month, Vincent Kompany’s team officially returned to the Premier League.
Last week, Kompany made six changes for their game against relegation-threatened Reading in order to give his peripheral players a chance to shine.
Reading ultimately earned a scoreless draw and gained an important point in their fight for survival.
The Sun said that Burnley are now in danger with the EFL and Reading’s relegation rivals Huddersfield were not pleased with Kompany’s team decision.
It is reported that the Clarets have received a letter from the EFL addressing this matter, and if found guilty, they risk being fined or losing points.
Burnley insists they made the changes because they were using their squad and certain peripheral players needed game time, despite reports to the contrary.
