Despite Eden Hazard’s failure at Real Madrid, Vincent Kompany believes his fellow Belgian player has “still magic” in him.
Hazard was transferred from Chelsea to Santiago Bernabeu for €100 (100 million Euros) in the summer of 2019.
Hazard created a reputation for being one of the most destructive and successful forwards in the world at Stamford Bridge.
But the 32-year-old has scored just seven goals in four seasons with the Blancos and has fallen down the team’s pecking order to the point where serious doubts about his future have been raised.
A move to another team has been suggested, but Kompany is confident that his former international teammate still has a lot to give someone.
Speaking about the end of his career is premature, he told RTBF:
“The main factor is that Eden’s injuries caused things to change. You must respect the truth that you have no control over your injuries”.
“He had to handle his wounds and the fallout. Additionally, returning is never easy”.
“The player who provided us many enjoyable moments and who made us happy to represent Belgium is always there behind that”.
“And then there is always someone who has a battle to win or something they need to do. He still has time to score in the Champions League championship game and to claim a victory”.
“This player, this individual, still possesses magic. To ensure that he finishes as he deserves, we must wish for the best for him”.
Hazard has a contract with Real Madrid that runs until the summer of 2024, but Carlo Ancelotti’s plans already include players like Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo, and Marco Asensio ahead of him, so a move to a different club might be the best course of action for everyone.
