The Premier League clubs have collectively agreed to remove gambling sponsorship from the front of their matchday shirts by the end of the 2025-26 season.
However, this does not mean that clubs cannot continue to feature gambling brands in other areas, such as shirt sleeves and LED advertising, after the deadline.
Additionally, clubs are allowed to secure new shirt-front deals before the deadline.
Currently, eight top-flight clubs have gambling companies on the front of their shirts, earning an estimated £60m per year.
The decision to remove such sponsorship comes after a consultation between the league, its clubs, and the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, in line with the government’s ongoing review of gambling legislation.
By voluntarily taking this measure, the Premier League will be the first sports league in the UK to reduce gambling advertising.
The government is expected to publish a gambling white paper after its review of gambling legislation.
