Mikel Arteta has confirmed that Gabriel Martinelli will miss Arsenal’s next two Premier League games after suffering an ankle injury against Brighton.
Just minutes after colliding with Kaoru Mitoma, the Brazilian was tackled by Seagulls midfielder Moises Caicedo.
Martinelli had to be removed from that contest after only 20 minutes.
Although the club’s head of medical services Gary O’Driscoll gave a favorable injury update following the game against Brighton.
However, it was disclosed on Wednesday that the forward will not participate in the remaining games of the season after suffering an ankle ligament damage, and Arteta confirmed this on Friday.
Additionally, William Saliba and Oleksandr Zinchenko will also miss the rest of the season due to injuries, and their tenuous title hopes were all but dashed by the defeat against Brighton last Sunday.
