Former Manchester United defender, Marcos Rojo in his recent interview took a brutal Dig at Harry Maguire.
Rojo described his irate response to being stuck behind the England defender.
Five years before Manchester United broke the bank to make England’s Harry Maguire the most expensive defender in football history, ex-international Rojo made the switch to Old Trafford in 2014.
United spent £80 million on that deal, which was completed in the summer of 2019, and it partly restricted their ability to choose their roster.
Due to Maguire’s high price, according to Rojo, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would frequently ignore obvious mistakes while others were compelled to stand by and watch.
Rojo revealed to TyC Sports that he sparred with United’s club captain for playing time:
“I had a great year in England in 2019.
“I was playing in the Europa League, but I was furious with the coach for selecting Maguire over me in the Premier League”.
“Thank goodness Licha [Lisandro] Martinez is playing now that they have taken him out”.
“I once went to Solskjaer’s office to request that he either let me leave for another club or start me. I argued that I should have been playing”.
“He told me that Maguire had to play because they had spent so much money on him. Already, each week, he was committing Huge errors”.
With Erik ten Hag favoring the World Cup champions Martinez and Raphael Varane as his center-back partnership, Maguire was finally dropped by United early in the 2022–23 season.
The 30-year-old is currently out of action once more after suffering an injury.
