RB Leipzig have successfully defended their German Cup title with a 2-0 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt in the final on Saturday.
The match was characterized by a cautious approach from both teams, with neither side willing to concede space for counterattacks.
In the 71st minute, Christopher Nkunku scored the decisive goal for Leipzig with a shot from the edge of the penalty area that took a deflection off two Frankfurt defenders before finding the net.
Nkunku, who is expected to join Chelsea at the end of the season, also provided the assist for Dominik Szoboszlai’s goal in the 85th minute, securing the victory for Leipzig.
The result also means that Bayer Leverkusen, who finished sixth in the league, will qualify for the Europa League again next season, while Frankfurt, who won the competition last season, will have to settle for the UEFA conference League
