Romelu Lukaku claims that Serie A must take “action for real this time” after he was subjected to racial taunts from Juventus supporters on Tuesday before being dismissed.
In the 95th minute of the Coppa Italia match, he converted a penalty, and he was given a second yellow card for putting his finger to his lips in front of the home crowd.
The Inter Milan striker posted on Instagram, saying
“History repeats itself.” “Had to go through it again in 2019 and 2023.
“Everyone should enjoy this wonderful game.”
“I hope the league really takes actions for real this time,” he continued.
The abuse was “beyond despicable,” according to Michael Yormark, head of Lukaku’s agency Roc Nation Sports International.
After the game, Juventus promised to work with the police to find the culprits.
According to a statement, Juventus Football Club is working with the authorities to find those who were behind last night’s racist chants and gestures.
Following Lukaku’s equalizer, fights broke out amongst players from both teams.
After the final whistle, Inter captain Samir Handanovic and player Juan Cuadrado received red cards, and the altercation continued down the tunnel.
