Chelsea and England midfielder, Mason Mount, has announced that he is deleting his Twitter account after having it since 2015 and accumulating 1.8 million followers.
Mount has been active on social media, including Instagram and TikTok, where he has 5.6 million and 3.7 million followers, respectively.
In a statement on his personal Twitter account, Mount had this to say:
“Over the years I’ve thoroughly enjoyed connecting with you all on Twitter. Sadly, the platform is changing so I have decided to delete my account,” Mount wrote on Thursday.
“You all can still connect with me on my other social media platforms. Take care, Mason.”
The current season has been challenging for Chelsea, who are currently in 11th place in the Premier League with no wins since March 11th and just one goal scored this month.
Owner Todd Boehly has faced criticism, and the team has had four different managers this season. Mount has made 35 appearances, scoring three goals and providing seven assists, which is lower than last season’s numbers (13 and 16, respectively).
Despite this, Mount has been linked to moves away from Chelsea’s Premier League rivals, including Liverpool and Manchester United. Chelsea will play Brentford on Wednesday, and they are currently 11 points off Europe and 12 off the relegation spots in 11th place.
