Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric has unfortunately sustained a thigh injury, casting doubts over his fitness for their upcoming Champions League match against Manchester City.
This has come as a blow to Los Blancos, who are looking to defend their continental crown. The first leg of the semi-final is scheduled to take place on May 9th at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Modric’s participation in the match is uncertain as he is currently racing against time to recover from the injury.
The Croatian playmaker picked up the injury during Real Madrid’s 4-2 defeat to Girona on Tuesday. Modric may also miss the Copa del Rey final due to this injury.
Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti has commented on the situation, saying, “He has had a small injury, and it depends on how it evolves.
“I don’t know if he will reach the Cup final. We must evaluate him. We are hurt, but it can happen. I hope he recovers.”
Real Madrid has a busy schedule ahead, including a match against Almeria on Saturday, followed by fixtures against Real Sociedad on Tuesday and the Copa del Rey final against Osasuna on May 6th.
Modric’s injury is a cause for concern for the team as they strive to defend their titles and maintain their winning streak.
