UEFA has taken action against West Ham and Fiorentina following incidents that occurred during the Europa Conference League final held on Wednesday.
Both clubs have been formally charged by Uefa for the offenses of “throwing of objects,” and West Ham has additionally been penalized for the “invasion of the field of play.”
During the first half of the match in Prague, Fiorentina captain Cristiano Biraghi was struck on the head by an object thrown from the West Ham supporters’ section. Despite this unfortunate incident, the Hammers emerged victorious with a 2-1 win.
In addition to the charges faced by West Ham, Fiorentina has also been accused of the offense of “lighting of fireworks.” Uefa will thoroughly review the matter and make a decision in due course.
Prague authorities reported the arrest of 23 individuals, one of whom was a West Ham fan, while the remaining supporters were backing Fiorentina.
Notably, there was a separate altercation in central Prague where Fiorentina fans attacked West Ham fans in a bar. As a result, 17 out of the 22 fans associated with the Italian club were detained in connection with that incident.
