Manchester City moved to within three points off the Premier League leaders Arsenal with a commanding 3-1 victory over relegation-threatened Leicester City, courtesy of two goals from Erling Haaland.
Pep Guardiola’s men had a comfortable day, scoring twice in the opening 13 minutes with a powerful strike from John Stones and a penalty from Haaland.
The 22-year-old Norwegian striker, scored his second goal with a delightful chip 12 minutes later, but was substituted at halftime and couldn’t add any more to his tally.
Leicester’s goalkeeper, Daniel Iversen, made a fantastic save to prevent Riyad Mahrez’s curling shot, which was the closest Manchester City came to scoring in the second half.
Meanwhile, Dean Smith’s first game in charge of Leicester got off to a terrible start, and Kelechi Iheanacho scored a consolation goal against his old club in the 75th minute.
Leicester remains in serious trouble near the bottom of the table, in 19th place and two points adrift of safety.
